Market Wrap-up
Rosie the Riveter: The Preliminary S&P Markit Manufacturing PMI dropped from 50.0 down to 49.4 which is contractionary. The Services PMI moved from 50.6 to 50.8 which is expansionary.
The 10 year note began at 4.47% this morning, MBS prices down 25 bps at 9:30 am ET. Since then nothing. The bond market closed at 2 pm officially but in reality it closed at 9 am. The increase in the yield on the 10 year note wasn’t a major surprise and wasn’t driven by any news of consequence.
Next Week’s Calendar: Monday October new home sales, $54B 2 year note auction, $55B 5 year note auction. Tuesday Sept Case/Shiller home price index, Nov consumer confidence from the Conference Board. Wednesday MBA mortgage applications,Q3 preliminary GDP (second estimate), $39B 7 year note auction. Thursday weekly jobless claims, October PCE, October personal income and spending, Nov Chicago purchasing mgrs. index, Oct pending home sales. Friday Nov ISM manufacturing index, October construction spending.
This Week: The 10 year note increased 3 bps to 4.47%, the 2 year note +5 bp. FNMA 6.5 30 year coupon this week -17 bps. The DJIA +443, NASDAQ +46, S&P +45. Crude oil -$0.53, gold +$21. Dollar index -0.53, Bitcoin increased 990.
